We partner with farmers to provide them with affordable modern farming solutions to increase efficiency and improve production

We worked with icipe to set up farmer training demo sites across different locations in Kenya to showcase Black Soldier Flies. The scientists had specific structural designs that they wanted our team to implement on ground and this meant we had to redesign our structures to accomodate these needs which were crucial for the survival of Black Soldier Flies. This project has been awarded the prestigious, USD 1 million Curt Bergfors Foundation Food Planet Prize, from about 650 global nominations, in recognition of the Centre’s pioneering research and development (R&D) activities on insects for food, feed and other uses.

Alphayo had bought a parcel of land in Kerugoya and had been idle for a long time. He wanted a venture he could do in order to utilize his idle plot. Following a pre site survey to his plot, we advised Alphayo to venture into Capsicum farming due to the huge demand around his area. Given that we were working on a tight budget, we advised Alphayo to construct a wooden greenhouse as the area had no termites as well. This allowed us to archieve affordability which was key to the implementation of the project.

Agnes tasked us to design and deliver a bespoke greenhouse for her daily home gardening use. Following a pre site survey to her farm, we undertook to create a small home gardning greenhouse to allow her grow fresh horticultural crops for home use. We also had to take into consideration the high temperatures in Masii and thus proposed an open vent greenhouse which would allow free flow of cool air around the greenhouse

Naela Women Group is a women’s savings group that wanted to venture into farming in order to diversify from depending solely on pastoralism. The objective of this project was to create alternative revenue streams for the group. We therefore undertook to provide the metallic greenhouse construction, trained the group on how to grow crops under a greenhouse and once they started harvesting, we connected them to a buyer for their fresh produce. This was a complete turn key project that saw us partner with Naela Women Group from start to end.

AKM was looking for a solution to reduce its importation of fresh produce into South Sudan and contracted us to provide greenhouses. The region had a huge temperature flactuation from lows of 15degrees at night to highs of 33 during the day. Woking closely with our agronomy team, we were able to set up tunnel greenhouses with side ventilations. During the night the vents would be closed to avoid the temperatures dropping by trapping in the heat absorbed by the greenhouse.
